CELEBRATING AN IMPORTANT MILESTONE TOGETHER

INNOVATION AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: BOMAN AT THE SAA – SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT IN TURIN

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the SAA – School of Management in Turin (formerly the School of Business Administration of the University of Turin) hosted an event introduced and moderated by Filippo Monge, professor of Innovation Economics at the university. The event welcomed Boman, a leading national company in the mechanical sector based in Murello (Cuneo), specializing in the design and production of lifting and handling equipment, industrial logistics containers, and customized welding and assembly systems. Special guests included Enrico Bonaudi and Alex Belforte, President and CEO of Boman Srl, respectively.

The event, part of the educational and third-mission activities of the Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Corporate Communication Management, gathered around 250 university students eager to explore the new frontiers of artificial intelligence applications in technology. Several key topics were addressed, with in-depth discussions not only on process and product innovation but also on social innovation, covering aspects such as corporate governance, inclusion projects, and welfare initiatives.

The nearly two-hour discussion shed light on highly relevant concepts. In an era of increasing focus on sustainability, Boman presented its initiatives and projects that embody the concept of a company giving back to its local community. This “giving back” takes tangible forms, such as creating job opportunities—its approximately 90 employees all come from the local area—and investing in education. A key future project, which may soon become a reality, involves the creation of a vocational training centre, alongside sharing the company’s many achievements with its employees.

“In 2021,” Alex Belforte recounted, “we took all our employees to GIS, the largest trade fair in our sector held in Piacenza. We did this because we wanted to share an important moment together.”

Beyond sustainability, the event also emphasized innovation, always with a focus on people—as a tool for improvement rather than a replacement for human work. This concept was well illustrated by Enrico Bonaudi: “In recent years, we have introduced robotic machinery in some areas of our operations with a clear goal: our aim is to provide real, tangible support to our employees, relieving them of particularly strenuous tasks while simultaneously increasing productivity. At a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving and attracting significant interest, we continue to place people at the centre of our focus.”

A meeting that was therefore a training opportunity but also an occasion to delve into topics related to corporate governance, the need for young people’s contribution to continue on a path of development, and a true opportunity for discussion and exchange to better understand the fundamental elements for building a sustainable and innovative future.
